Starting as a political news and celebrity portrait photographer in DC, Sam was instantly drawn to wedding photography as a space to promote more inventive ideas. Sam’s focus is on photographic techniques that are deceptively simple but have the potential to transform difficult or uninspiring shooting environments into one-of-a-kind opportunities for every photo made.
This was my second time working with Nathan and Winnie – the first being in a beautiful corner of Brooklyn – but this time we were on the other side of the world in Thailand. It was my first trip there, and we spent most of our time in Chiang Mai, which was absolutely stunning.
One of the things that’s always felt a little bittersweet about the wedding industry is that you don’t often get to work with clients more than once. So when Nathan and Winnie invited me out to Thailand where Winnie grew up, I was beyond grateful. The fact that Nathan is a photographer himself only made it better – there’s always an added layer of excitement when someone behind the camera trusts you to be the one in front of it for them.
