Starting as a political news and celebrity portrait photographer in DC, Sam was instantly drawn to wedding photography as a space to promote more inventive ideas. Sam’s focus is on photographic techniques that are deceptively simple but have the potential to transform difficult or uninspiring shooting environments into one-of-a-kind opportunities for every photo made.
There’s something about a quiet park at the right time of day that just lets people be themselves, and that’s exactly what happened when Matt and Shannon met me out at Piney River Run Park in Maryland. We took our time, wandered a bit, and let the conversation do most of the work. The best moments always seem to show up when nobody’s trying too hard, and these two made that easy.
If you’re thinking about an engagement session and you want something that feels like you instead of a stiff set of poses, this is the vibe. Find a spot that means something or just feels good to walk through, bring the person you actually want to marry, and let the rest happen. Matt and Shannon, thank you for letting me tag along!
