Starting as a political news and celebrity portrait photographer in DC, Sam was instantly drawn to wedding photography as a space to promote more inventive ideas. Sam’s focus is on photographic techniques that are deceptively simple but have the potential to transform difficult or uninspiring shooting environments into one-of-a-kind opportunities for every photo made.
When Jared asked me to photograph his and Lily’s engagement session in Melbourne, I said yes before the sentence was finished. It had been about ten years since my last trip to Australia, which is far too long to stay away from a place with that kind of food and those kind of people. The scenery doesn’t hurt either, but let’s be honest, I’d return for the coffee alone. We spent a few days exploring Melbourne together, and now the only problem is the familiar one: I need to go back, for longer, immediately, and probably forever.
