Starting as a political news and celebrity portrait photographer in DC, Sam was instantly drawn to wedding photography as a space to promote more inventive ideas. Sam’s focus is on photographic techniques that are deceptively simple but have the potential to transform difficult or uninspiring shooting environments into one-of-a-kind opportunities for every photo made.
Getting to shoot an engagement session at Cold Saturday Farm in Finksburg was one of those evenings where the light just kept giving. Jesse and Adam are easy to be around, the kind of couple who make my job feel less like work and more like hanging out with friends who happen to look great in front of a camera. We wandered the property as the sun dropped low, chasing that warm glow through the trees, off the pond, and against the old weathered barn. Plaid shirts, soft reflections, and a whole lot of laughing between frames.
The best part is I get to do this all again in a bigger way this November when I photograph their wedding. Sessions like this are exactly why I love the engagement shoot as a warmup. By the time the wedding rolls around we already know how to work together, which means less stiffness and more of those real, in between moments that actually feel like them. Congrats you two, and thanks for trusting me with all of it.
