Starting as a political news and celebrity portrait photographer in DC, Sam was instantly drawn to wedding photography as a space to promote more inventive ideas. Sam’s focus is on photographic techniques that are deceptively simple but have the potential to transform difficult or uninspiring shooting environments into one-of-a-kind opportunities for every photo made.
When Chris first reached out about photographing his and his fiancée’s wedding next year, I thought his name sounded familiar, so I did a deep dive into my old website blog post comments, and found an email from him mentioning that he was just getting started in photography and was hoping to second shoot at some point. Unfortunately, we never got to work together, but I’m so grateful that almost 10 years later, he’s reached out and we’re actually able to work together on photographs of him and his fiancée who now work on Capitol Hill, which was pretty incredible to have the access after dark in a few select spots to take some incredible portraits.
